Alpine's new AMG Mercedes-Benz demo car showcases the company's the latest flagship equipment the F#1 status system. Boasting both stereo and 5.1 surround formats, F#1 status system is one of the most advanced and expensive audio systems ever produced.
In conjunction with Alpine's chief technical guru Paul Graham, Sydney company Auto Acoustics were given the job of installing the hi-tech equipment in Benz. Within days of commencing the installation, the car was gutted from the windscreen rearwards. Before installing equipment, strips of Sound OFF sound deadening mat were applied to any resonant panels including the roof. Sound OFF professional damping compound was also used on resonant body panels including the reverse side of moulded trims, kick panels, speaker baffles and subwoofer enclosures.
An audio tone-generator and temporary woofers were used in the C-class to find resonances and to confirm the results of the sound deadening treatment. Paul says " There's no doubt that sound and anti-resonance treatments are among the biggest improvements that you can make to a car's system".
Alpines new F#1 status system demo car was recently judged as 'car audiovisual installation of the year 2002' by Sound Image magazine.
Judges commented that Alpine's F#1 AMG Mercedes-Benz,"This mobile system is without doubt the best we've heard yet. It's simply orgasmic to the ear".
To achieve such a great sound, the installation team at Sydney's Auto Acoustics eliminated body panel and interior trim resonances with strips of Sound OFF sound deadening mat and professional damping compound.
